Mr. Gowdy was truly an exceptional teacher and will be greatly missed! He always made us feel welcomed when we came to a Rochell event, "Hey Pembertons! How's it going?" There will surely be an absence in our hearts not hearing his joyful voice anymore. He had a way of making his students feel special, and that is why Sydnie and Ainsley loved him so. He really brought out their artistic potential and in that way will continue to live through them and the countless other students he touched! Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. May the Lord keep you in His care.

Aeden, Kennedy and Laura, my heart breaks with this news. The last time I saw Kevin was very long ago; Kennedy was a new baby then, but I remember his great pride and love towards her. There was no doubt of his love and attention. May good memories and the love and support from others sustain you during difficult times. Ann Mullins

I am so shocked to hear this news. Kevin was such a great person to know and he helped me in many ways when I was a new teacher in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw district at Highland Middle School. He was always willing to go the extra mile to help wherever and whenever needed. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time. Words cannot express the sympathy I have for all of you at this time. But to know that God is there to wrap him in his arms is comforting. I will always remember his smile and how enthusiastic he was when we talked about art and teaching. God Bless you Kevin.

I am so saddened to hear this. It was a pleasure working with Kevin in EM-SISD. He was an amazing art teacher and I learned so much from him my first year teaching. He always had a smile on his face. His laugh was infectious. My sincerest prayers for the family's comfort.

My journey through life has introduced me to so many people from different countries, cultures and all walks of life and many have influenced me, taught me and shaped the person who I am today. Kevin is one of those people. I met Kevin through Bobby Urban and we spent times together through our twenties hanging out, talking, listening to music and mostly laughing. This man lights up the room when he walks in and I'll never forget all the times we spent together. This summer, Bobby, Kevin and I were able to reconnect and get together to talk about the old days and I'll always remember and be grateful for this day. Earlier this year, I went through a very rough divorce and Kevin was so amazing with his support and I'll never forget it. He will be truly missed, but he will forever live in all of our hearts.

Mr Gowdy was such a beautiful blessing to my children. There are teachers that kids like, and then there are teachers that kids LOVE. Kids love the ones who make them feel loved, and Mr. Gowdy loved them all!! I am so glad that I told him this in person... I could never be in his presence without thanking him for all that he did. This loss is tremendous, but he will forever live on in their little hearts.

I have known Kevin since he started teaching art in Rockwall ----- I will remember him as a proud and involved father, an amazing artist, and a tireless contributor to his community and his children's activities. He made me laugh. He listened when others spoke. He made a difference in countless little artists' lives through his love of art and his commitment to teaching. He will be missed and forever admired. God's gain is our loss.

Mr Gowdy was not only the greatest art teacher but my friend too. He was such a great friend! We laughed together ever time I got to see him. I would lose my kids in the school during teacher meeting times and i knew right where to find them, with their favorite person. When I saw him Friday we were laughing, making fun of each other and just smiling ear to ear. That's who he is joy! He brought joy to my kids and they brought so much to him. We are hurting not for ourselves but also for his family. We will pray and remember this unique amazing man. I'm so glad I got to laught with him just one more time. Mr. Gowdy is a kind, wholesome, amazing, joyful, spirited man who shared his love for art with kids who looked up to him and love him. I thank god for the moment he allowed for us to share him these last 7 years. I will miss my sweet friend. Prayers for your family!

Mr. Gowdy's passion for his job and students showed through in his personality and his students willingness to learn and their love for art. 3 of my 4 kids each had him as their art teacher. He was my youngest child's favorite teacher. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and especially his children. His smiling face will truly be missed at Rochell.

My best friend for the past 35 years. We blazed the trails on our Mongooses and jammed to Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Quiet Riot. We laughed, we cried, and reminisced about all the beautiful memories. You were always a shoulder I could lean on and always willing to lend an ear. You will be missed more than you could ever imagine. You were the brother I never had and I am so glad I was able to remind you of that recently. My prayers to family and friends.

to the friends and family of kevin gowdy,

we just came across the news of our good friend kevin gowdy's passing. my heart sunk as I considered kevin to be a great friend and an amazing person. my wife and I met kevin at SFA when we were all students there. kevin & I laughed our way through many art classes, both on our way to eventually becoming art teachers. in so many ways, he was an influence to me and provided great support over our long conversations about teaching and raising kids. I know he was a great father and teacher. I had a great amount of respect for him, and wish I had seen him a bit more these last few years. my sincere condolences to all his friends and family. our prayers are with you tonight, and I will miss kevin greatly.

love,
Kris, Rachelle, Audrey, and Clara Baker
