Liz (Holgate) Young

Liz Young, 76, of Fort Worth, Texas formally of Decatur, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Memorial is 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Decatur Church of Christ. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Decatur Church of Christ. Rick Ross will be officiating.

Liz was born on March 1, 1940 in Brownfield, Texas to Barney H. and Salomae Steen Holgate.  Liz attended Lubbock High School, Texas Tech University and University of North Texas. She enjoyed teaching school and music for 20 plus years, working with the family business, teaching Bible classes and singing for weddings and funerals. She enjoyed all her time spent with her children and families.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginny Young of Fort Worth; her son, Cary Young and wife Jonna of Decatur; her grandchildren Jeremy Young and wife Jenna of College Station, Jason Young and wife Sabrina of Fort Worth, Miranda Wright of Fort Worth, Sutton Young of Sacramento, California, Chandler Young and Hadden Young of Decatur; her 3 great-grandchildren of College Station Jalyn, Jackson and Jarren; her brothers, Stanley Holgate of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Forrest Holgate of Grand Junction, Colorado; numerous extended family members and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association or Community Hospice of Texas.
