Mary Elaine (Suggs) Davis

Enid, Oklahoma ~ Mary Elaine Davis, 93, went to be with our Lord Monday, September 11, 2017 in Oklahoma City.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Decatur with 2:30 p.m. burial in DFW National Cemetery. No set visitation on Monday.

Bill Ligget and Rev. Dr. Brian Bosworth will officiate. Pallbearers include Eric Carroll, Dustin Weber, Paul Kuntz, Gary Boyd, Rob Davis, and Chris Davis. 

Mary was born on June 25, 1924 to Roland and Lucille (Wood) Suggs in Lubbock, Texas. She was united in marriage to Lavaughn V. Davis on March 22, 1963 in Abilene, Texas. Mary retired as a Clerk for AT& T. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. She was very involved in the community and a part of many organization including the Federation of Women, the Decatur Rotary Club, the Decatur Committee on Ageing, American Legion Auxiliary, Member of Democratic Party of Texas, the Wise County Historical Society, and also was Precinct Chair of Democratic party in Garfield County, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Barbara Peterson; her nephew, David Peterson.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her stepsons, Larry Davis and wife Linda of Flint, Tony Davis of Austin, Sam Davis and wife Nina of Austin; her niece, Diane Kliewer and husband Don of Enid, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her sister, Jane Miller of Burlington, Vermont; her nephews, Steve and Terry Miller of New York, New York; her great niece, Christal Weber and husband Dustin of Lee's Summit, Missouri;  and a host of friends.
