Chico ~ Carl A. Tony Spanglo Jr., 85, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in Decatur.
Graveside is 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2019 at Chico Cemetery in Chico, Texas.
Tony, the second of four children, was born, August 1, 1934 to Carl Anthony and Zelma (Fitzgerald) Spanglo Sr. in Urbana, Illinois. He helped his dad work on race cars during his teens, he graduated from Urbana High School, then Tony proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. Tony served for 10 years aboard an aircraft carrier and Naval air stations. After his service for our country, he returned to the Champaign area where he worked as a cement finisher. He owned and drove a stock car for a short time and helped his dad and brother Tommy with their stock car. Tony moved to Texas in the eighties where he has resided since. He enjoyed watching Nascar and the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tommy.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Toni Hodge and fiancé Toby Zook of Tolono, Illinois, Amy Miller and husband Kenny of Marion, Illinois; his son, Anthony Spanglo of Urbana, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Bobby Spanglo of Maine; his sister, Rita Dunn of Illinois; numerous extended family and a host of friends.
