Bridgeport ~ Joe Long, 83, went to be with our Lord Friday, March 16, 2018 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Roscoe Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Roscoe Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. The family will gather at La Quinta Inn and Suites in Bridgeport in the banquet hall for food and fellowship directly after the service.
Rev. Johnny Mack will officiate.
Joe was born on March 13, 1935 to Joe Robert and Woodie Mae (Brown) Long in Knott, Texas. He was united in marriage to Johanna Roberts on November 16, 1989 in Paradise. Joe was a long-time resident of Bridgeport and also a Veteran of the United States Navy serving on both the USS Hancock and the USS Severn. He also received the Purple Heart during his time of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, triplets, Roy, Coy and Joy Long, Otho Long and Wanda Montgomery; his son, Henry Walton; his first wife, Martha Simmons.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Johanna Long of Bridgeport; his sons, Lynn Long and wife Jasylyn of Springtown; Steven Long of Poolville; John Henry Long of Weatherford; his daughter Heather Long of Bridgeport; his son Tim Walton of Crane; his grandchildren Joshua, Nathan, Jacob, Peyton Rene’e, Sydney, Peyton Marley, Timothy, Tabetha, Tiffany, Teshia, Michael, Michelle, Melissa, Marcus and Meagan; great grandchildren, Creedence and Kolynn; his brothers Glenn Lewis Long and wife Lenora of Brownwood, Johnny Mack Long and wife Vicki of Harper and Billy Bob Long and wife Becky of Ranger; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
