Lloyd was born on May 11, 1935 to Lloyd and Edna Pearl (Beeler) Grimes in Wamego, Kansas. Lloyd earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Wichita State University in 1968.  He married Maryellen Grimes in 1962 and they were married for 33 yrs, having adventures across four states. Along the way they had two children, Nolan and Jevon.  Lloyd always lit up around his sons and was proud that Nolan graduated from Wichita State with a degree in Electrical Engineering and equally proud that Jevon earned a degree from Oral Roberts in Business.  I can remember lessons learned from Dad about taking on new challenges, always testing himself by ordering the hottest salsa, respecting the imaginary line between brothers in the back seat on long trips, and being quick with a joke and laughing with others since Dad always enjoyed people.  He also enjoyed helping other people by repairing their electronics and he enjoyed the different cultures and backgrounds of the people in his life.

Lloyd was later united in marriage to Barbara Jean Reed December 17, 2005 in Azle after moving to Euless and soon moved to Newark,  He and Barbara were married for 13 yrs and very active in the First Baptist Church where they were members.

Lloyd was known for his support of missions work and he volunteered at Wycliffe Bible Translators.   He served in the United States Air Force which resulted in a loss of much of his hearing.  Lloyd was also interested in motorcycles.  He owned a 1959 BMW 90R while stationed in Okinawa.  He learned some Japanese while living with the Okies for 3 years.  Lloyd and Barbara worked with Andy Guarino ministering to people rebuilding their lives after a death of spouse or a divorce.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Maryellen Ranker; and his 2 sisters, Lloydine Cataldo and Margaret Lash.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 13 years, Barbara Grimes of Newark; his sons, Nolan Grimes and wife Teresa of Wichita, Kansas, and Jevon Grimes and wife Kerry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his granddaughters, Makenzie and Madison; his 2 great-grandchildren, Samuel and Oliver; his 3 step-children, Robert Blagg and wife Lisa, Bryan Blagg and wife Mary Beth, Rebecca Markos and husband Carl; his 8 step-grandchildren, Delaney, Parker, Elliott, Savannah, Tucker, Brody, Austin, and Rhett; and a host of friends.
