Mary Helen Stephens (Swingler) Greer

Decatur ~ Mary Helen Greer, 86, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Monday, September 4, 2017 in Decatur.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Decatur.

Rick Ross will officiate. Pallbearers include Timothy Garcia, Kyle Stephens Jr., Ronald Willis, Bart Mueller, Devon Willis, and Blake Tucker.

Mary was born on July 14, 1931 to A.J. and Nora (Dowdy) Swingler in Bremond, Texas. She married Jackie Stephens November 3, 1951 and was married 46 years until his passing in 1997. Mary was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ. She owned and operated a dairy farm and worked for 1^st National Bank in Decatur for 20 years. Mary was united in marriage to Carl Thomas Greer on January 21, 2002 in Gainesville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jackie Stephens in 1997, her sisters, Pat Sellmand and Ann Ward.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Carl Greer of Decatur; her son, Russell Stephens and wife Rebecca of Decatur; her step daughters, Sue Newcomb of Decatur, Cara Gail Willis and husband Ronald of Decatur; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; her brother in law, John Ward of Georgetown, Texas; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
