Norma Lowrance Obituary

Decatur ~ Norma Wellborn Lowrance, 98, passed away January 1, 2020 in Decatur.

Graveside is 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2020 at Eternal Oaks Cemetery at Runaway Bay.

Family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Norma was born on January 14, 1921 to Herman and Lucy (Neal) Wellborn in Arlington, Tennessee. She graduated from Nicholas Blackwell High School in Bartlett Tennessee in 1939. Norma was united in marriage on May 31, 1941 to David Edward Lowrance Jr. While her husband served in Germany and France during WWII she worked at the Fisher Bomber Plant in Memphis Tennessee. After moving to Texas, she resided in Irving, Runaway Bay, and Decatur. Norma and Dave were happily married for 70 years before his death.

Norma enjoyed playing golf with her friends of the “9 Holers” of the Women’s Golf Association of Runaway Bay. She and Dave enjoyed many years of retirement with travel in their travel trailer. Norma enjoyed needlework and collecting antiques, bottles, and cookie jars.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Edward Lowrance Jr., her sisters Helen James and Ann Rushing; her brother Herman Wellborn Jr.; and many friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael Edward Lowrance of Decatur, and David Alan Lowrance of Bedford; her daughter- in- law Michelle Lowrance; her grandson, Alan Robert Lowrance and wife Larissa of Frisco; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
