Robert "Bob" Rush

Bowie ~ Robert E. "Bob" Rush, 70, of Bowie, Texas passed away on September 4, 2017, in Decatur, Texas, from complications arising from the stroke he suffered in August of 2016.

Bob was born to George S. and Thelma (Stainer) Rush in Long Beach, California, on February 27, 1947.

Bob and Versel Diane Wall married in Wichita Falls on March 2, 1991, and moved to Bowie, Texas in 1995, where he lived until his death. Known as someone who could fix anything mechanical, Bob had many stories about the jobs in his life including working in TV/radio repairs when he was 16 and also a traveling dolphin show.  He eventually retired from Bowie Industries. He was also a stay-at-home father while his daughter, Sydney, was growing up.Bob was an ASE certified mechanic, a licensed ham radio operator, and an expert jerky maker.  Late in life, he became an avid fan of Wahoo! and Uno. 

Bob was preceded in death by his father, mother, beloved step-father Verne Bruegman, and sister Margaret Woeller.

Bob is survived by his wife, Versel Rush; daughter Sydney Renee Rush of Groves, Texas; son, Morgan Rush of Los Angeles; daughter, Danielle Hackbush and grandson Andrew Hackbush of River Oaks, Texas; sister, Carol Skelton and family of Wichita Falls; brother Russell Bruegman and family of Wichita Falls; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and her husband, Denise and Darrell Bell of Bowie.

At Bob’s request, there will be no services. If you are so inclined, the family requests that memorials be made in Bob’s memory to Backdoor Theatre of Wichita Falls or to the Salvation Army earmarked for the Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort.
