Dawn Janine (Fortin) Sims

Newark – Dawn Janine Sims, 62 went to be went to be with our Lord Thursday August 31, 2023.

Dawn was born December 29, 1960 to Raymond and Bernice (Dunbar) Fortin in Kankakee, Illinois. She graduated from Bradley - Bourbonnais High School and was a caregiver. Dawn was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Berniece Fortin; and a brother, Russell Fortin.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rachel Patel of Omaha, Nebraska and Helena Sims of Newark, Texas; grandchildren, Anjali Patel, Manish Patel, Noah and Gabriel Balero and Daniel Dennis; great grandchildren, Aria Saverin and Andrew Balero; brother, Bruce Fortin and sister Lynn Rose; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
