Boyd ~ Earl Thomas Tharp, 92, went to be with our Lord Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10AM Saturday at The Bridge Church with burial in Eternal Oaks Cemetery in Runaway Bay. Family will receive friends 5-8 PM Friday at the church.
Rev. Mike Wiltcher to officiate. Pallbearers are Mark Hanby, Chase Caston, Jake Griggs, Waymon Causey, Bill Miles, and James Johnson.
Earl was born on September 13, 1930 to Lenard Thomas and Pearl Frances (Brisbin) Tharp in Leona. He was united in marriage to Modena Glenn Tharp on October 28, 1969 in Denton. Earl proudly served our country in the United States Navy on the USS Intrepid during the Korean War. He lived in Oregon for a number of years, working on the powerlines and Bridges around Mount St. Helens. Earl is known for his kindness and generosity. He loved his church and being active in giving back to the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Modena; 4 sisters, Verna Tharp, Ruby Simpson, MaryAnn Barnett, and Louise Byer; 2 brothers, John and Billie Tharp.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his step son, Curtis Plante; numerous extended family and a host of friends.
