Decatur ~ Foy Wallace Byrd Jr., 84, went to be with our Lord Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Gerre Joiner will officiate.

Foy was born at Doctor Rogers Hospital in Decatur, Texas on August 22, 1936.

Foy attended Paschal High School in Fort Worth and graduated in 1955.

Foy attended TCU and earned his B.S. in Education and Chemistry while working part time in the Ft. Worth PD Detective Crime Lab.

Foy attended Texas Wesleyan University and Earned his Master’s in Education.

While living in Ft. Worth, Foy taught High School Chemistry and Physics at Fort Worth’s Paschal High School from 1959-1966; where he was also the assistant basketball coach.

Foy attended South Dakota School of Mines, Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and Texas A&M for Doctoral work in Nuclear Metallurgy and played college baseball while in Michigan.

Foy moved to Euless Texas in 1967 with his first wife of 27 years Linda and their two children Foy III and Karen.

In 1967 Foy entered the private sector as a Chemical Engineer working on cutting edge metallurgical research to benefit Energy, Medical, Military, and Space Programs.

Foy owned and operated Production Process Manufacturing and Supply Corporation in Fort Worth as President and Nuclear Metallurgical Chemical Engineer from 1968-1983.

Foy and Linda moved from Euless and built a home on the family homestead in Sunset, Texas in 1975.

Foy and Val Dunning also owned and operated a realty business in Decatur, Texas. in the early 80’s.

Foy married his second wife Stacey with son Cody in 1983 and had a daughter Cassie in the following year.

Foy returned to teaching High School Science in 1983 at Alvord High School and retired from AHS in 2002.

Foy went on to teach at Tarrant County Junior College as well as Seventh Grade Science at Decatur ISD from 2002-2003. After teaching, he retired all together and remodeled a home in Decatur Texas.

Foy later moved to Davidson, OK where he resided for 10 years before returning to live at Governor’s Ridge in Decatur, Texas.

Foy was an avid believer in Jesus as our Savior and member of the Church of Christ. Foy was a true and gracious friend with fierce loyalty and patriotism. He never held a grudge; and would go above and beyond to help anyone in need. His smile was infectious, and he had joy in everything that he did. Foy loved all his students; many of whom would later become Physicians, Military Leaders, Politicians, and Scientific Researchers. He was dedicated to helping future generations by sharing all his knowledge.

Some of Foy’s favorite past times were arrowhead hunting, fishing, deer hunting and his story telling.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Foy Byrd III of Grapevine, and Cody Wilkinson of Boyd; his daughters, Cassie Parker and husband Greg of Poolville, and Karen Hammons of Sherman; his 5 grandchildren, Carissa Byrd, Caitlin Byrd, Colby Hightower, Colton Hightower, and Taylor Parker; his 3 great-grandchildren, Rylan Lee, Gairett Dub, and Zayden Ray Hightower; his sister, Betty Champion of Flower Mound; numerous family members and a host of friends.
