James “Darrell” Green (of Rhome, TX) went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.  Darrell was born September 13, 1936 in Gladewater, TX to Virgil and Julia (Hewitt) Green.  In the 1940’s, the family moved to Rhome, TX.  He attended Rhome Elementary school, where he met his future bride, Lynda Knox, and he graduated from Northwest High School in 1955.  He and Lynda were married October 22, 1955 and celebrated their 68th anniversary last fall.  They raised 4 children and their family has now grown to 40 members with more anticipated.

He and his family were very close and spent many happy times camping, water skiing, coaching his children’s sports, building and remodeling, and serving his community through his church.  The family appreciated his ability to build and fix anything.  Darrell was a life-long member of Rhome Church of Christ where he served as a deacon, elder and Sunday School teacher.
