James "Brad" Bradford Obituary

Decatur~ James “Brad” Gordon Bradford, 72, of Decatur went to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2020 in Decatur.

Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Thomas Cemetery in Bridgeport with Military Honors. Rev. Gerri Joiner will officiate.

James was born on March 18, 1948 to James and Jewel (London) Bradford in Paducah, Texas. He was raised by Roy Lee Davidson as his own son. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy retiring after 20 years. He was united in marriage to Nellie Syck on August 29, 1991 in Georgia. James was a mechanic and became a loadmaster during his years of service. While in the Navy he traveled all over the world, after retirement he continued his travels throughout the United States with his wife and their beloved dog Pepper. James loved bowling, playing golf, and working in his woodshop building different things for family and friends. Most mornings you could find him and Nellie at the local Whataburger enjoying fellowship with the “gang” discussing various topics. James will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Nellie Bradford of Decatur; his son Chris Bradford of Bridgeport; his son, Robbie Spears and wife Ling of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his daughter, Penny Bradford Jacobson and husband Scotty of Bellville; his daughter Julie Bradford of Bowie; his grandchildren, Ash’Lee and husband Tyler, Tommy and wife Nikki, Derrick and wife Kelsey, Chad, and Hailee; 2 great-grandchildren, Kaydence and Emoriee; and numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
