Johnny Barnes Obituary

Boyd- Johnny Everett Barnes, 89, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in Boyd

Funeral Service is 11:00 am Saturday April 20, 2024 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held 4:00 PM at Old Union Cemetery in Simms, Texas.

Officiant will be Brother Terry Terry. Pallbearers will include Cody Barnes, Cash Barnes, Jordan Barnes, Rodney Collup, Steven Stewart, Gracyn Barnes and Jaxson Harris.

Johnny was born January 25, 1935 to Homer Bryant and Gladys Mae (Daniels) Barnes in Simms, Texas.  He was united in marriage April 28, 1973 to Judy Marie Cranford in Dallas, Texas.

He enjoyed the outdoors where he restored old vehicles and enjoyed going to car shows when he could. In the past Johnny was a welder at Murrey Gin in Forney, Texas. He was a commercial appliance tech at United Coin for many years as well as being the boss while he was the owner/operator of a trucking company that moved wide loads and mobile homes. Johnny was an active member of the Friendship Baptist Church.  He was a devoted family man, son, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and great -great grandfather and good friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Barnes and Gladys Jordan Barnes; and son, Richard Boyce.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Judy Barnes of Boyd; his daughter, Lynn Schoeff and husband, J.R. of Canton; his sons, Jeff Barnes and wife, Selena of Kaufman, Jack Barnes and wife Sherri of Mabank and Ronald Barnes and wife Christy of Lone Oak; his sister, Billie McRae of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; his brothers, Don Barnes and wife Marybeth of Burnet and Troy Barnes of Capitan, New Mexico; his grandchildren, great -grandchildren, great – great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; many extended family members and a large host of friends.
