Decatur ~ Jose Pérez, 88, went to be with our Lord Friday, April 24, 2020 in Decatur, Texas.
Graveside service is 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2020 with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Open visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pastor Filemón will officiate. Pallbearers will include Raul Pérez, Francisco Pérez, Jose Antonio Pérez, Aurelio Zuñiga, Jose Carlos Zuñiga, Omar Pérez, Eric Pérez and Abram Pérez.
Jose was born March 19, 1932 to Francisco and Micaela (Orozco) Pérez in Jerez, Zacatecas, México. He was united in marriage to Antonia Garcia in 1950. Together they had 6 children. Throughout his life, Jose, was a farmer, fruit grower, and housebuilder. He loved to tend to his apple and peach orchards in his home town of Palmas Altas. He retired as a farmer and moved to Texas to be with his entire family. He was a loving grandfather to 21 grandchildren and a wonderful great-grandfather to 28 great-grandchildren. He was the last of his brothers and sisters to depart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Antonia García of Decatur; his sons Raudel Pérez and wife Maria P., Ismael Pérez and wife Maria J., Jose M. Pérez and wife Virginia, Ramiro Pérez and wife Marisol, and Mauricio Pérez all of Decatur; his daughter Amparo Zuniga Pérez and husband Efren from Palmas Altas, Jerez, Zacatecas, México; his 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.

Jose nació el 19 de marzo 1932 en Jerez, Zacatecas, México. Sus padres fueron Francisco y Micaela (Orozco) Pérez. Se unió en matrimonio con Antonia García en 1950. Juntos tuvieron cinco hijos y una hija. A lo largo de su vida, Jose fue agricultor, cultivador de frutas y albañil. Le encantaba cuidar sus huertos de manzana y durazno en su rancho natal Palmas Altas. Se retiró como agricultor y se mudó a Texas para estar con toda su familia. Fue un abuelo cariñoso de 21 nietos y un maravilloso bisabuelo de 28 bisnietos. Fue el último de sus hermanos y hermanas en partir.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, hermanos y hermanas.

Los que se quedan para apreciar su memoria son su esposa de 70 años, Antonia García de Decatur; sus hijos Raudel Pérez y su esposa Maria P., Ismael P. y su esposa Maria J., Jose M. Pérez y su esposa Virginia, Ramiro Pérez y su esposa Marisol, y Mauricio Pérez, todos de Decatur; su hija Amparo Zuñiga Pérez y su esposo Efren de Palmas Altas, Jerez, Zacatecas, México; sus 21 nietos y 28 bisnietos; su extensa familia y una gran cantidad de amigos.
