Mary Dodd

Boyd ~ Mary Dodd, 83, on February 16, 2020, our mother, received her new and perfect body. “I am ready to see Jesus, and I am ready to see daddy (Billy)” God granted her request.

 

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel Boyd with burial in Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.  

 

Rev. Doug Ackley will officiate. Pallbearers are Danny Dodd, Sharon Dodd, Rita Hickman, Albert Hickman, Debi Leewright, Randy Leewright, Judy Malone, Tim Malone, and Joshua Dodd.

 

Mary was born on October 2, 1936, to Willie Lowell and Gladys Irene (Boyd) Odom in Kelso, Arkansas. She graduated Tillar High School in Tillar, Arkansas and was united in marriage to Billy Dodd on September 25, 1954, in Mississippi. Mary was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd and was the owner of Bill and Mary’s Catfish Inn in Bridgeport.

 

One of mother’s greatest desires, outside of making sure we all know Jesus, was for her children to be happy and ‘settled’. It was very important to her that her family remain close always. We have and will continue to abide by her wishes.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Billy Dodd; her brothers, Delbert Odom and Billy Odom.

 

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Danny Dodd and wife Sharon of Boyd; 2 daughters, Rita K. Hickman and husband Albert of Fort Worth, and Debi Leewright and husband Randy of Springtown; 4 grandchildren, Michelle Fitzgerald, Joshua Dodd, Beau Leewright, and Kylee Phillips; 6 great grandchildren, Ike, Aspen, Brogan, Karen, Mandy, and Brodie; her brother, Lowell Odom of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; 3 sisters, Helen Anderson and husband Ray of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Sue Shook of Monticello, Arkansas, and Judy Malone and husband Tim of Decatur; many nieces and nephews, all of which she loved and treated as grandchildren, and many close friends she loved dearly.
