Sharon Lin Blake, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2023.

The family will be holding a celebration of her life on March 18, 2023 @ 1:00pm at the First Methodist Bridgeport with burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport on March 17, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm.

Laurie Barker will officiate. Pallbearers are Robert O’Dell, Brandon Kaker, Shannon Bean, Rodney Winters, Andy Simmons, and Darren Blake. Honorary Pallbearers include Chad Schleicher, Raul “Tito” Bocanegra, and The Boys of the BHS Class of 1985.

Sharon was born on February 9, 1967 to Charles “Chock” and Ann Kaker in Decatur, Texas. She grew up on the family dairy in Bridgeport with her brother Steven “Frank”. She shared many adventures with her brother and nearby cousins growing up and loved caring for the many animals that also called the farm home.

Involved in several activities growing up, Sharon often shared fond memories of Camp Fire trips, basketball teams, and marching band events. She was a dear friend to her classmates and an excellent student, graduating Valedictorian of the Bridgeport High Class of 1985. At University of North Texas, Sharon was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and graduated with Honors in 1988. Shortly after graduating, she met Dan Blake and the two were married October 22, 1988. They shared 34 loving years together living across the state, making a home for their family in Justin, Ponder, Boerne, and Runaway Bay.

Sharon was very proud of her career in the insurance industry. Most recently, she served as a Vice President at The Hartford, her employer for the past 16 years. Over the years she made many lifelong friends from across the country and remained passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders.

An avid scuba diver and skier, Sharon loved being in the great outdoors. She often described beauty in nature as God’s signature. She also enjoyed live music, dancing with Dan, spending time with family and friends, and travelling all over the world.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Chock” Kaker; grandfather, J.C. Dawson; grandmother, Willa Mae Dawson; and aunt, Darlene Bean.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Dan Blake; children, Jared Blake, and Jayci Golden and husband Kyle; mother, Ann Kaker; brother, Steven “Frank” Kaker and his children Brandon and Kelcie; cousins, Dana, Shannon, and Sheena and their families; brother-in-law Darren Blake and his family.
