Wayne Thomas Derby

Alvord ~ Wayne Thomas Derby, 73, went to be with our Lord Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Memorial Service is 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Wayne was born January 27, 1950 to Robert Thomas and Alice Fay (Williams) Derby in Decatur, Texas. He was united in marriage January 7, 2013 to Laura Ellen Haley in Decatur, Texas. Wayne was a retired Supervisor for Troxell Trucking, after many years with the company. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Wayne was a beloved husband, brother, step-father, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Derby.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Laura Ellen Derby of Alvord; his sisters, Dorothy Caples and husband Bearl of Lindsey, and Betty Vandiver and husband William of North Richland Hills; a step-daughter, Tammie Crozier of Grapevine; step-sons, Stephen Crozier and wife Judy of Moore, Oklahoma, Michael Crozier and wife Heather of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Terry Wayne Edington and wife Hilton of Dodd City; extended family and a host of friends.
