K.C. was known to me as a police officer and as a friend; we think we shared many common interests. K.C. treated everyone he dealt with in his profession with respect, that meant every person and citizen received a fair and friendly response even in the more stressful situations......he was always consistant. He absolutely had a keen sense of right and wrong, and for figuring out what was going on....that was because he listened and observed the situations.
He was so proud of his family, his wife and his son and daughter, and the new generation that made him granddad.
I always ''looked up'' to KC , because he was the type of man that made you want to look up, because he had earned that respect.
I also know that K.,C. was known to be a serious fisherman from time to time but he never told me about a big one that got away, maybe that just wasn't K.C'. 's style...he was not known to brag unless it was about Tracie's tomatoes or their fine chickens.
We have now lost , for a time, a good man and friend, and I figure if I get lucky and end up in a common place we will have some time to talk again , maybe he will have remembered about one that got away!

Tracie, you don't know me, but I know you a little from when Karl shared about you. I can echo my brother, Trey Small, when I say he obviously loved his family very, very much. When I heard about this tragedy, lots of childhood memories came flooding back in my mind. Karl and Trey are six years younger than me and they were always into something! I see your husband as a little boy running around and having lots of fun. Sometimes at the expense of my sister and me and our pets! They would run across the street, laughing, and we would know that they had been doing something that they shouldn't have been doing. When Karl came to visit when our dad passed away last year, he and Trey became those boys having a good time again. He really cheered all of us up. I am so happy for him to have grownup to have such a happy life.
Your life will never be the same. But cling to the love and good memories that will never go away. Karl's life was about protecting other people, and he will not stop now. You and your family have my deepest sympathy and prayers. God bless you all, as well as Frank and Chris. I'm sure Edith was there to greet Karl in Heaven.

Tracie, Cassie and Chance,
I am so very sorry for the loss of KC.
I know your hearts are broken but they will heal.
God doesn't make mistakes and it's no mistake that you all have such sweet and precious memories of your KC that can't be taken away.
I have those memories as well and I cherish them.
KC is my oldest, dearest friend and I smile when I think back to our childhood days. We played in the dirt, chased dogs and cats, we were each other's co-pilots flying old wooden soda crates that were our airplanes. We fought like brothers and loved line brothers, took whoopings from each other's parents when we got out of hand.
We fished and Frank taught us how to clean fish, we ran from snakes and killed some too.
We were buds, friends and he was a brother I never had. We built forts in the dirt, played GI Joes and cowboys and Indians. We laughed and cried together and we spent countless summers riding bikes, collecting old bottles and traded them in for slurpies at 7/11. We grew up and moved on with our life's and I was thrilled when he asked me to be in yalls wedding. Time passed and I was shocked when he lost his mother, Edith. I was with him then. And he was with me when I lost my dad just a year ago. My family and I were joyed when he came to visit and we did some good catching up at dinner after my dads viewing.
We talked about our youth and he talked about his family. He was so proud of his children and his wife. KC was a good man. He loved you all so much and he was so proud to tell me all about each of you! I am so thankful that I got to spend that time with him after so many years and I am so glad and so honored to have had him in my life and have the long friendship and brotherhood we shared.
I pray that you all will heal and find comfort in the sweet memories I know you must share about your life with this good man!
Thank you God for Karl and for letting him be a part of my life!
